Description
Calpol Six Plus Sugar Free Suspension is a pain relief and fever-reducing oral medicine formulated for older children and adults. Its active ingredient is paracetamol, which works to relieve mild to moderate pain and reduce fever (high temperature) associated with a range of common conditions, including colds and flu, headache, toothache, earache, sore throat, and after immunisation.
The sugar-free suspension is presented as a white liquid with strawberry flavour and is suitable for children from 6 years of age and adults. It is supplied with an oral dosing syringe for accurate measurement.

Directions (How to Use)
Who can use this medicine:
Children aged 6 years and over
Adults
Not recommended for children under 6 years; for younger children, a doctor or pharmacist should be consulted
How to administer:
Shake the bottle for at least 10 seconds before use
Use the syringe supplied with the medicine to measure the correct dose
Insert the syringe into the hole in the bottle plug, draw up the required amount, and administer orally
Typical dosing guidance:
Children 6–8 years: 5 ml up to 4 times a day
Children 8–10 years: 7.5 ml up to 4 times a day (5 ml + 2.5 ml)
Children 10–12 years: 10 ml up to 4 times a day (5 ml + 5 ml)
Children 12–16 years: 10 ml to 15 ml up to 4 times a day (two to three 5 ml doses)
Adults and children over 16 years: 10 ml to 20 ml up to 4 times a day (two to four 5 ml doses)
Important instructions:
Leave at least 4 hours between doses
Do not give more than 4 doses in any 24-hour period
Do not give this medicine to a child for more than 3 days without consulting a doctor or pharmacist
If a dose is missed:
Give the next dose when needed, provided it has been at least 4 hours since the last dose
Do not double up to make up a missed dose
Side Effects & Warnings
Possible Side Effects
Like all medicines, this product may cause side effects, although not everyone gets them. These include:
Allergic reactions such as swelling of the face, tongue or throat, difficulty swallowing, unexplained wheezing, shortness of breath, rash or hives
Unusual tiredness, unexpected bruising or bleeding, frequent infections (very rare)
Serious skin reactions (very rare) presenting as reddening, blisters or rash
A rare metabolic disturbance called metabolic acidosis in those with severe illness
If any of these signs occur, stop use and seek medical help immediately.
Long-term use:
Prolonged daily use of paracetamol over several months or more may lead to liver or kidney problems
When Not to Use
Do not give this medicine if the child:
Is allergic to paracetamol or any of the other ingredients
Is already taking another product containing paracetamol
Precautions:
Speak to a doctor or pharmacist before use if the child has serious liver or kidney problems or an inherited intolerance to sugars such as fructose

Storage:
Keep out of sight and reach of children
Do not store above 25°C
Store in the original package
Do not use after the expiry date on the bottle
Other advice:
Only use the syringe provided for dosing; do not use jugs or spoons
If the child’s symptoms do not improve or worsen, consult a doctor or pharmacist
Do not give other products containing paracetamol while this medicine is being used
If an overdose is suspected, seek urgent medical attention even if the child seems well, as paracetamol overdose can cause delayed but serious liver damage
