What is Skinoren Cream 20% used for?
Skinoren Cream 20% is a treatment for mild to moderate acne (acne vulgaris). It is commonly used to help improve acne-prone skin by reducing spots, pimples, blackheads and whiteheads.
Skinoren contains azelaic acid 20%, which helps reduce acne-causing bacteria and keeps pores clear. Use of this can help improve the appearance of the skin and reduce the formation of new spots.
Skinoren Cream should only be used to treat acne. It should not be used for other skin conditions.
How Skinoren Cream works
Skinoren Cream contains azelaic acid, an ingredient that works by targeting the bacterium Propionibacterium acnes, which plays an important role in the development of acne.
Azelaic acid also helps reduce the growth of thickened outer skin cells that can block pores and lead to blackheads and whiteheads. By helping to reduce bacteria and prevent blocked pores, Skinoren Cream can help improve mild to moderate acne when used regularly.
Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure how to use this medicine.
The recommended dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over
Apply Skinoren Cream twice daily, in the morning and evening. Apply a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin and gently rub it in.
Before applying Skinoren Cream, wash the area to be treated thoroughly with water. If your skin is oily or greasy, use a mild skin cleanser. Dry the skin completely before applying the cream.
Wash your hands before and after use.
If you have sensitive skin, your prescriber may advise you to use the medicine in a different way, such as applying it less frequently at first. Please inform your prescriber if you have sensitive skin or experience skin irritation while using this treatment.
How long Skinoren has to be used varies from person to person. It depends upon how bad your acne is when you start treatment. You should see a distinct improvement after about 4 weeks.
Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Some of the side effects are temporary with continued treatment or disappeared when treatment is stopped.
