Important Information About Mounjaro
We are pleased to confirm our continued support for you in maintaining your weight with Mounjaro.
As advised by the manufacturer, maintenance doses are available in 5 mg, 10 mg, and 15 mg. To optimise your treatment, we recommend using the lowest effective dose necessary to maintain your weight while ensuring continued benefits.
It’s important to find the right balance – drop your dose to a strength that allows you to maintain your weight without experiencing excessive hunger or cravings. The goal is to stabilise your weight so that you are neither losing nor gaining.
Once you have spent a few months on a lower dose, you may be able to reduce it further, continuing this process gradually until you are ready to taper off completely. Making healthy lifestyle changes, such as maintaining a balanced diet and staying active, will help you sustain your weight after stopping Mounjaro. For further guidance, we recommend the [NHS 12-Week Weight Loss Plan](https://www.nhs.uk/
Even if your BMI falls below 30, we’re happy to work with you—as long as your weight remains within a healthy range and is not approaching underweight levels (generally not below a BMI of 22). This continued support applies as long as you have had consistent Mounjaro use, with your most recent dose taken within the past two weeks.
Support which aligns with your needs
As you continue, the decision to either stop using Mounjaro or maintain long-term use for weight stability is entirely yours. We will support you in whichever approach aligns best with your goals and overall health.
Discontinuation of this medication does not pose any known health risks or adverse medical implications. However, an increase in appetite and hunger cravings may occur following cessation. Individuals may need to exercise increased self-discipline and mindful eating practices to manage these changes effectively.
Please note that if you choose to stop treatment and later wish to restart, Mounjaro can only be re-initiated at the starting dose of 2.5 mg, and only if your last dose of Mounjaro was within the last 3 months, and your BMI is above 22.
Please consult with us to determine the appropriate dose that best supports your long-term goals. Should you require any assistance or further guidance, do not hesitate to reach out.
