What is Finacea 15% Gel used for?

Finacea 15% Gel is a treatment for mild to moderate acne (acne vulgaris) affecting the face. It is commonly used to help improve acne-prone skin by reducing inflamed spots, pimples, and blemishes.

Finacea contains azelaic acid 15%, which helps reduce acne-causing bacteria and inflammation in the skin. Regular use can help improve the appearance of the skin and reduce the formation of new spots.

Finacea Gel should only be used to treat acne on the face. It should not be used for other skin conditions unless advised by a healthcare professional.

How Finacea 15% Gel works

Finacea Gel contains azelaic acid, which works by targeting the bacterium Propionibacterium acnes, a key contributor to the development of acne.

Azelaic acid also helps reduce inflammation and the growth of thickened outer skin cells that can block pores and lead to blackheads and spots.

By reducing bacteria, inflammation and blocked pores, Finacea Gel can help improve mild to moderate acne when used regularly.

Always use this medicine exactly as your doctor or pharmacist has told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure how to use this medicine.

The recommended dose for adults and adolescents aged 12 years and over:

Apply Finacea gel twice daily, in the morning and evening. Apply a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin and gently rub it in.

Before applying Finacea gel, wash the area to be treated thoroughly with water. If your skin is oily or greasy, use a mild skin cleanser. Dry the skin completely before applying the cream.

Wash your hands before and after use.

If you have sensitive skin, your prescriber may advise you to use the medicine in a different way, such as applying it less frequently at first. Please inform your prescriber if you have sensitive skin or experience skin irritation while using this treatment.

How long Finacea has to be used varies from person to person. It depends upon how bad your acne is when you start treatment. You should see a distinct improvement after about 4 weeks.

If you use more Finacea than you should

Even if you have accidentally used more Finacea than you should, a harmful effect (intoxication) is unlikely.

Please continue as prescribed and ask your doctor if you are not sure.

If you forget to use Finacea

Do not use twice the amount to make up for a forgotten treatment. Continue as prescribed by your doctor.

If you stop using Finacea

If you stop using Finacea your skin disease can get worse. Please ask your doctor before you stop using Finacea.
