Gina 10mcg Vaginal Tablet is a vaginal tablet and contain estradiol.
- Estradiol is a female sex hormone.
- It belongs to a group of hormones called oestrogens.
- It is exactly the same as the estradiol produced by the ovaries of women.
- Gina belongs to a group of medicines called local vaginal Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT)
- Used to relieve menopausal symptoms in the vagina such such as dryness or irritation also known as ‘Vaginal Atrophy’
- It helps to treat vaginal atrophy in postmenopausal women and who have not had a period for at least 1 year.
Working: It works by replacing the oestrogen which is normally produced in the ovaries of women. It is inserted into your vagina, so the hormone is released where is needed. It may relieve discomfort in the vagina.
Don’t use Gina if you have ever:
- Allergic (hypersensitive) to estradiol
- Womb or ovarian cancer
- Vaginal or genital bleeding since your periods stopped due to the menopause.
- Vaginal Infections
- Vulva dermatoses
- Breast Cancer
- Blood clot in a vein (thrombosis)
- Heart attack, stroke or angina
- Liver disease
- Rare blood Problem called ‘Porphyria’
